Hat Mod - Pink Shells

Posted by Megan Moulos in , ,

I used the same basic Bobble Beauty pattern from the last post, but modified it to make it a little more dramatic. I used shells instead of bobbles to really make them pop out, and also added more of a brim (is that what you'd call it?).

Shell Beauty Pattern

Materials:

*1 skein Red Heart Super Saver Yarn (or other worsted of your choosing)
*Size K/10.5 crochet hook

Key:
ch: chain
sc: single crochet
dc: double crochet
( ) : repeat what is in parenthesis

Specialty Stitch:
*Shell Stitch: work 6 dc in next stitch

NOTE 1: beginning ch does not count as a stitch
NOTE 2: when join rounds, ignore the beginning st and join in first real stitch. Join with slip stitch.
NOTE 3: numbers in ( ) at end of row depicts number of stitches you should have for that row.

ROW 1: ch 4, 12 dc in first st, join in first dc. (12 sts)

ROW 2: ch 3, 2 dc in ea stitch around, join in first dc. (24 sts)

ROW 3: ch 3, 2 dc in same st as join, 1 dc in next st, (2 dc in next st, 1 dc in next st) around. Join in first dc. (36 sts)

ROW 4: ch 3, 2 dc in same st as join, 1 dc in next 2 sts (2 dc in next st, 1 dc in next 2 sts) around. Join in first dc. (48 sts)

ROW 5: ch 3, 2 dc in same st as join, 1 dc in next 3 sts (2 dc in next st, 1 dc in next 3 sts) around. Join in first dc. (60 sts)

ROW 6: ch 3, 1 dc in ea st around. Join in first dc. (60 sts)

ROW 7: repeat row 6. (60 sts)

ROW 8: repeat row 6. (60 sts)

ROW 9 Shell stitch row: ch 3, 2 dc in same st as join, sc in next st, (shell st in next st, sc in next st) around, join in chain of first shell.

ROW 10 Shell stitch row: ch 3, 2 dc in same st as join, (sc in 3rd st in shell below, sc in 4th st in shell below, shell in next sc stitch [after the shell stitch ends]) around, join in chain of first shell.

ROW 11: ch 1, sc in 3rd st in shell below, sc in next sc below, sc in next sc,
(sc in 3rd st in next shell, sc in next sc, sc in next sc) around, join in chain. (90 st)

ROW 12: ch 1, (sc in next sc, skip next st), around. (45 st)

ROW 13: ch 3, (dc in next sc, dc in each sc around. (45 st)

ROW 14: ch 5, dc in next dc, (ch 2, dc in next dc) around, join in chain.

ROW 15: ch 5, dc in next dc, (ch 2, dc in next dc [skip the ch 2 in last row, only dc in dc]) around, join in first dc. (45 st)

ROW 16: ch 1, sc in each dc around, join in chain. (45 st)

ROW 17: ch 1, sl st in same st as join, ch 1, (sl st in next st, ch 1) around, join in first st.

Fasten off, weave in ends.

There it is! My first pattern. It might be a bit crazy, but I am still learning.

Edit: Hopefully this fixes the problem. Thanks for the heads up CrochetWitch! <3
